Cast Iron Rim Lock
A wonderfully crafted, cast iron Rim Lock.
Rim locks were traditionally used to lock doors before mortice locks and are a great way to add real character to any period or vintage door or home.
This rustic, hard-wearing KP RLC451-C Rim Lock is handmade in a traditional English ironfoundry. As is the Octagonal Rim Knob (the KP 3056-Rim Knob) which is mounted to the look.
Manufactured by Kirkpatrick, whose long tradition of manufacturing means that they have a style and authenticity which is lacking in the cheap imitation products seen elsewhere. Their workforce is skilled in the traditional methods of production, which have not changed in essence, over the last 156 years.
Although it is possible to find many similar products available both in the UK and worldwide, the essential difference is that Kirkpatrick’s cast iron products are whiteheart malleable iron, which is particularly durable and well suited to the manufacture of architectural ironmongery.
